I can see 14 or more Dorms per house (at least 1 Boys and 1 Girls for
each year with the Year 7 Dorms becoming the Year 1 Dorms the next
year and the others getting redesignated so that the students stay in
the same room for the full 7 years). The Beds and Storage areas get
arranged during the Welcome Dinner after the Sorting Hat sorts the
new First Years by House. I would think that the number of students
per House would vary in a narrow range so the Tables would
accommodate the maximum number and thus would always have extra room
at the table.

There is no reason why he HAS to bunk with others in his "Year" (IOW:
The student could move in with the 4th Years or into another 5th year
room {have we gotten all the names for the students in Harry's
"Class"?). How many students were named during the Sorting Sequence
in SS/PS?
