There are 5 identical beds in Harrys room (Harry, Ron, Neville,

20 broomsticks for the Slytherins and Gryffindors class....
I then assume that there are 5 boys and 5 girls in each house and
in each year....
40 new students per year, 70 students per house, and 280 students

Allen: there was not a big problem with my portion because it was
simple a statement of the interview facts. "In various
interviews/public appearances, JKR has stated several times that
there are about 1000 students, faculty, administration, staff at
Hogwarts".

However, I do agree that some of lynnfaragher78's theory had some
problems and would agree with some of the points you made.
