Dumbledore is definitely revealed as fallible in OoP, but I don't
know if I'd characterize him as "creepy" or "scary." His sanguine,
even charming, personality in the face of personal danger or insult
seems to me to represent his supreme [yet not arrogant] self-
confidence. His temper flares when he has a righteous cause to
defend -- in other words, it's not ego-driven.
Ron I gotta disagree with you on. He's certainly less than perfect,
but he ain't no Wormtail. He's demonstrated his loyalty as well as
his courage in situations where his life or the lives of his friends
might be in danger. He may be a tad wussy in terms of standing up
for himself when his personal honor is at stake, but when push comes
to shove he's a good mate to have on yer side.
At least in my opinion.
Umbridge ain't "creepy" as much as downright obnoxious and very
possibly evil [I think it's going to be revealed that there are
several Dark Side plants in the Ministry, and it wouldn't surprise me
a bit if she were one of 'em].
