Hagrid's character serves as a bridge between the world of adult
Wizards and the students. He often provides that last bit of
information that, while dangerous, allows them to figure out what
needs figuring, how to get by the three headed dog, where the spiders
are, one more thing to do while in possession of a time turner, that
pesky first challenge.
Hagrid trusts the Trio's abilities, and their hearts, perhaps more
than anyone else.
