Just my two cents. As a teacher (Language Arts 8th grade-middle school) I
teach a class of GATE students (gifted and talented). For those who are
academically gifted, for example, I have had students who are reading and analyzing
texts written at high school/adult levels. One other characteristic of GATE
students is that they have an advanced maturity/morality level. Hermione certainly
possesses both of these characteristics (Her obvious academic advancement,
her more mature moral responsiblity- SPEW, being able to understand her peers
motivations/reactions). I don't think I can say that she could follow in DD's
steps yet, I haven't quite figured out what makes him superior (there has to be
more to him than just being a great wizzard, we've all had teachers who really
knew their subject but couldn't teach their way out of a paper bag). I
absolutely could see her taking McGonagall's spot right now. It's interesting that
she hasn't looked into teaching as a career.

Whose working my way through the second time a bit more thoughtfully!
