...And I really don't see how Dumbledore could send Harry to the
Dursleys if he really were related to him. I mean, if the blood relation was
the force that kept Harry protected, woundn't Dumbledore's blood
relationship have counted?
Now me:
I'm was a believer that Harry and Dumbledore are related, and I think I still am. I'm ont sure what the words in the howler meant... "Remember my last, Petunia"... of course there's more there; if there wasn't hidden meaning, then Dumbledore would have been a little more clear... perhaps saying something about remembering their pact, or something. And of course, the familiarity with which he addresses Petunia gives rise to many questions. My point, though, is that we've been told that the Dursley's are Harry's last remaining relatives; and also that there was a blood tie that was needed in order to seal the charm that Dumbledore put on Harry. But perhaps, as it was "Lily's sacrifice" that was the first part of the charm, and her only (afawk) sister's "blood" was needed to seal it, all that tells me is that a blood relative of Lily's was needed to seal this protection charm. After all, Lily and Petunia are closer genetically than to either of
their parents, or anyone else for that matter. So if Dumbledore was related through James, however distantly, I don't think it'd be relevant.
