Why do we assume that Dumbledore was helping Flamel? Flamel was
helping Dumbledore; certainly, Flamel was the Master and Dumbledore
was the apprentice. Dumbledore was probably studying under Flamel to
improve his own (Dumbledore's) knowledge of alchemy. That's the only
thing that make sense to me.
