Doesn't seem more dangerous to me than a Muggle school. At least
until bullies come into play :-)

> the first flying lessons must have been terrifying (Neville,
> again!),

Walking on the beam in gymnastics was terrifying to me. Other people
found the bars (still gymnastics), or even swimming, terrifying.

> quidditch is "brutal,"

Football, rugby, even basketball, can be brutal the way some kids
play it. Also, I ended up in hospital after my first (and last !)
tennis lesson : got a tennis ball smashing in my eye (didn't see it
coming). If I had been wearing my lenses instead of my glasses, I
would probably have lost my eye...

> the forbidden forest is dangerous without Hagrid's additions

The kids are not supposed to go into the Forest, and I think there
must be some kind of charm on it to prevent the dangerous creatures
living in it to leave it and go up to the castle.

> Even Snape's class is dangerous - potions splattering everywhere.

Ever taken chemistry ? I remember once, we were supposed to nitrify
something, and the teacher was very clear that the solution had to
stay light yellow through thorough cooling, which indicated that it
was getting nitrified, not bi-nitrified or even worse tri-nitrified,
which would have meant it was turning into a cousin of TNT (tri-nitro-
toluene). You can guess she turned livid and brought a big box of ice
when she noticed that the solution of a pair of students at the back
of the classroom had turned brick-red...
