In my oppinion they only read the full names as part of a
formal "court" procedure. I don't think this was a red herring for
anything other than what you said about Percy being named after
Dumbledore.

I'll take this opportunity to share my thoughts on Percy-

I understand everyone's theories on the fight being staged and maybe
Percy is working for the Order undercover, however I feel the
opposite. The fight was real, and it's been coming. I wasn't
surprised by what thekids were telling Harry- resenting his father
for holding himself back at the Ministry and all. He's always been
the outsider in the family in a way, the one who cared more about
everyone's perceptions of him and his family, power and money. The
rest of the Weasleys seem to prefer gaining happiness in what they
do, not the material things they get out of it (why else would Bill
and Charlie hold those professions, I'm sure they're not rolling in
it working with dragons and for Gringotts). Though getting ahead at
the Ministry would make Percy happpy... Percy saw it as Arhtur
holding himself back from climbing the ladder of success.

Percy strikes me as one with a lot of pride and need for acceptance
by others with more power and authority than his parents can
provide. The example given is in GoF, his worship of Crouch and how
he acts when given the opportunity to sit in for him as a Triwizard
judge. He feels people must consider him as an equal to Crouch to
even allow him such an honor. Another one is when everyone's sitting
outside at the picnic table and all he can talk about is his work at
the Misnitry, and comparing Ludo Bagman to Crouch saying the
former's not as good as the latter.

He's very persistent, stubborn, pompous, as well as a stickler for
rules. I truly believe his siding with Fudge and the other Ministry
officials against Dumbledore was genuine. Now with Fudge believing
Dumbledore, how will Percy react? Will he go back to his parents
begging their forgiveness, or continue following the Ministry? I
vote for the latter. I see them patching things up, not right away,
but eventually. Although I don't see Percy making the first move,
I'm not holding my breath on that one.

And I should add I don't see Percy turning all evil on us and going
to the dark side. He's not that desperate for control and power.

Any thoughts?
