I think when most people say they think he's going to die, they mean
he's going to die *while* defeating Voldemort. The whole noble, heroic
death thing. Obviously a big battle between he and V. is coming up in
Book 7, and some people think that he might defeat V. by somehow
sacrificing himself for the greater good of the wizarding world. 

I don't think anyone thinks that's he going to die while V. is still
alive. That would just be pointless.
