We don't know she has we don't know what the ministry will do to
her. All we know is that Dumbledore has saved her and allowed her
time in Hogwarts Castle to recuperate. He may not pass on her
attempt to use an unforgivable curse and to set dementors on Harry.
He is a very very forgiving man. But whether he passes that
information on to Fudge or not, Delores is forever in Dumbledore's
debt.

I think that's exactly what it is there for. Not necessarily combat,
but another indication of his mastery of the magical world. For me,
the throw-away nature in which the achievement was reported made the
action more awesome.
Cheers,
Dumbledad.
