Killing Sirius and, to a lesser extent, Cedric was ruthless. Killing
Harry would *really* upset millions of fans (and not just the kids).
I know that some people feel that *Harry Must Die* (perhaps to give a
LOTR-type gravity to the series), but I certainly hope that he does
not. I don't think that I would ever be able to enjoy the earlier
books in the series again if I knew that Harry was doomed from day 1.
And I am sorry, but I think that "going beyond the veil" to be united
with Sirius and his parents is alot like suicide and Harry is made of
stronger stuff than that.
ME: I agree! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe
this will happen. JKR has some wild twist for us I'm sure, but not this.
If after all the hell this kid goes thru, to have him die at the end would
ruin everything. I'd just toss my whole collection of books because I could
never read any of them again, they'd be meaningless. This is the ultimate
battle of good vs. evil. Don't you dare tell me that it will be some blaze
of glory, a sacrifice for everyone, dying so his friends can live, yada,
yada, yada - that's crap. If Harry dies, the good guys don't win.
Period. Besides that, I think JKR loves Harry even more than most of us
here (Josephine excluded - I was so waiting for Jenny from Ravenclaws post
on that one!) and I don't think she could bare to see him die any more than
we could. The prophesy said "Neither can live while the other survives" and
Harry really isn't living his own life. His whole fate is tied more and
more with Voldemort. To be free, he needs to be rid of Voldemort, then he
can have his own life. I like MoM with 12 red haired kids!
