Tom Riddle is LV, therefore, his inner evil was there from the
beggining. Remember in GoF that Frank Bruce (the gardener frm the
Riddle Mansion) said the only person he saw near the house that day
was a "teenage boy", i.e., Tom Riddle, who killed his father,
grandfather and granny (a granny killer!). At 15 (he was more or less
15 in the the diary, as he meets DD by the stairs) he was already
able to do Avada Kedavra, and he was already known as LV by his
Slytherins schoolmates. Therefore making him a very powerfull dark
wizard already. It would be more or less the same as if Ginny was
possessed by Lucius Malfoy or Belatrix. That ceirtanly would leave
some consequences. Think that when you are possessed by LV, you are
sharing his brain, even if not consciously, but your inner memory
subconscious will remember everything, and your brain will know that
you are able or have been able for a short period of "possessed" time
to perform mega powerfull curses. So it is all there in Ginny's and
Harry's subconscious. They will be very powerfull like DD, because
unlike LV they make the right choices.
