Of course Grawp is not mentaly disabled, it is such a prejudice 
against foreigners that just because they don't speak english they 
seem stupid! I agree that he was plain bored, he didn't wanna come to 
Hogwarts in the first place, the poor fellow. I strickes me as he 
being very young, if Hagrid is around 50, and Fridwulfa have been in 
hidding with that "tribe" of Giants since LV fell from power, maybe 
Grawp is only a babe in giants years. 
What appears odd to me, sorry if it has been discussed before, is how 
on Earth did Hagrid's Dad (being such a little guy), manage to have 
sex with a full-on giantess? A clue, perhaps, of why she left him?
