I too find that "see no different" incident funny (and yes I laugh at
boucing ferret too)! The comic timing was right on. D. was right.
It's very much the same cruel humor we've seen often from Rowling,
the usual Simpsons-ish humor. And I LOVE Hermione! I enjoyed my
favorite characters being tormented with different kinds of
conflicts, because I love the paid-off -- the moment they overcome
them. Hermione's triumphant moment (from that incident) was that she
became the crowd-stunner, with smaller front teeth ;), who's also
Krum's date; she was the object of jealousy by every girl in the
room. It is just the "K.O." moment for her! She overcame that one
tiny itchy spot of hers. I just don't understand why people worked up
their anger over that remark as if it's the biggest injustice, most
horrible cruelest single moment in history of humankind, as if it's
some unresolved injustice for Hermione. Because it's NOT! She
overcame it! She moved on! She treated it as no big deal! (never THAT
big a deal to begin with honestly, this is coming from a person who
have to live with large front teeth rest of her life). Maybe I just
don't treat these fictional worlds and characters "real-life" like
some people, never feel the need to get all righteous and getting all
personal. Because for-fiction's-sake I enjoyed seeing my favorite
characters encountering these kinds of troubles AND overcoming them.
The point is, Hermione got her triumphant moment (revenge) out of
that incident, she's obviously not bother nor traumatized by it
(seems to have forgotten about it), and certainly did not change much
of her opinion toward Snape, and even encourage Harry and Ron to grow-
up and ignore taunts, furthermore to constnatly remind them to put
trust in Snape. I feel humiliation for Hermione when people kept
making a big deal out of this.
