I think that I've always liked Dumbledore (and the fight scene was
great), but one of the things that I have yet to see mentioned on the
boards is what he said at the end. It was kind of awful to realize
that as powerful and as wise as Dumbledore is, he is capable of
making mistakes (and this was a big one). The books have set it up so
that he always has a trick up his sleeves or that he is always a step
ahead of everybody. Even in OoP, he was aware of the connection
between Harry and Voldemort and set up the Occlumens sessions.

Everyone also tried to ingrain into Harry how important this was. But
his *failure* was not telling Harry the truth and this did prove to
be a liability. I don't know how things would have changed, but it is
necessary for Harry to know the truth. Hagrid is always saying as
long as they have Dumbledore...cause he always saves the day. I don't
think that I had every considered that possiblity, but that could be
just my short-falling. He's so important that if he makes a mistake,
it's a big deal.
