I too would like to know what canon there is in POA that supports
this. And, does anyone have a link to the quote by JKR? I've heard
of this theory before, but I don't buy it for two reasons.

First of all, I know everyone points to all the refrences to the
switching spells, and I think that is a clue regarding Harry and
Lily switching eyes, not James and Lupin switching bodies.

Second, in POA, when Lupin follows everyone into the shreaking
shack, Lupin is surprised to learn that Sirius had suggested they
make Peter the secret keeper, not Sirius. (Remember, they knew there
was a spy among them, and Sirius and Remus suspected each other.) I
flat out don't believe that if James and Remus had switched bodies,
Remus (in James's body), would switch the secret keeper without
telling James, who was in Remus's body. Also, if Sirius suspected
Remus of being the spy, then James probably had doubts too, so he
wouldn't trust the life of his wife and son to him. (Peter must
have had them really fooled.)

Whew, I hope my line of reasoning wasn't too difficult to follow,
it's gets mixed up in my own head who is supposed to be who!
