Ok, first of all how many times have we heard Dumbledore say that he
trusts Snape? Now, if Dumbledore is JKR speaking through the book
(which at times I do think it is) then I am taking Dumbledore's word
for it.

I think that if Dumbledore trusts Snape, then we should trust Snape.

So, all in all, I trust Snape. I may not LIKE Snape, but I trust
him.

I am firmly in the I Trust Snape camp, even though he is a nasty, sadistic 
son of a bitch.  Dumbledore may not be perfect, but I think in this he is 
not mistaken.  Just because Umbridge is evil doesn't mean she has to be a 
Death Eater, and just because Snape is one of the Good Guys doesn't mean he 
has to be a good guy.
