But that's as far as it goes. Also I doubt Remus would go along with

What if James did not choose to abandon his family but, like many
Weasley family members in OOP, was working for the Order (even though
family could be impacted). However, when times got critical he
needed a cover to do work for the Order, so he "switched" with Remus
intending for it to be temporary. But, POW-something quickly goes
wrong-Pettigrew is a traitor-he cannot get back in time-Lupin(who is
only James because James needed to be him to leave the house and do
some urgent Auror work)falls victim to Voldemort. Just a thought.
Again, I have some problems with this theory, but it is no sillier
than all the posts which think magic has been done so that Harry
literally has Lily's eyes just because they are the same color and
shape as hers. What is achieved by having her eyes?
