So you think Snape is a spy, do you?
Well of course, he is a spy; what else could he be?
But he is more than a spy, he is a double agent. At the same time that
he is Voldemort's spy against Dumbledore, he is also, Dumbledore's spy
against Voldemort. The only way that Voldemort would take him back or
that any Death Eater would continue to associate with Snape is if they
thought Snape was spying ON Dumbledore.
But as as double agent, to serve both sides, you must betray both
sides. To maintain credibility, at some point and to some degree, you
must serve each Master which means betraying the other.
In reality, Snape is a triple agent, he has no choice but to serve and
betray the first two legs of the spy triangle; the third leg
represents his true allegiance, and he can't reveal that until the
moment of the final ultimate defeat. Quite conveniently, a good
Double/Triple agent, if he doesn't betray himself along the way, will
alway come out on the winning side. Yes, very conveniently indeed.
Just a thought.
