The halfblood/mudblood/pureblood crap is more determined by your 
parents' families than by what or who your parents were. Both Riddle 
and Harry are the result of the mingling between a muggle/mudblood 
family(Riddles and Evans) and a pureblooded family such as the 
Potters and the family of Riddle's mother.

And besides when is racism ever logical
