and I reply (mtwelovett):

Didn't Harry initially find the room as he was trying to hide from
Filch and Mrs Norris, since they had "discovered" him in the library
when he made noise in the ristricted section of the Library trying out
his invisibility cloak? (SS) And if Dumbeldore was already in the RoR,
it seems that maybe it wouldn't "shape shift" since it was already
being used... We of course don't know for certain that Dumbledore was
in the room on Harry's initial discovery of it, but he does comment on
"back again" on Harry's third trip so it stands to reason that maybe
he was there every time, or at least was aware of his visits to the
room. So in the beginning, all Harry really needed was a place to
hide, it could have been a broom closet, or a classroom or anything
really. We also don't see in OoP if the DA students have to pass in
the corridor three times and all that to get into the DA meetings once
the first ones are in the room... in that sense, could someone not
looking for the meetings but knowing about the room, walk in on a DA
meeting not meaning to? or would it become what they need and occupy
the same but differet space... wouldn't that be weird? (but that would
negate the initial theory) Just something to think about.
