I agree.  It's probably all in there now, if you want to look for 
it.  What I like about the books is that it's not trying to introduce 
token characters and token issues and then discuss them in all the 
angsty real world detail.  Other books do that sort of thing very 
well.  I like how multiracial characters are not generally explicitly 
described, although there are hints such as the surnames (although I 
notice in my British books that Rowling has started describing some 
characters as black) and/or the quidditch teams they back.

In the same way I imagine the sexuality of characters is dealt with 
(or will be dealt with if you don't see it there now).  

The more I read the books and peoples reactions to them, the more I 
feel that people find what they're looking for.  I mean, if someone 
wants to find a 'lack of female role models' then they'll find it.  
If someone decries the 'lack of characters from non-anglo-saxon 
backgrounds', then they'll find it.  I just feel that it shows more 
about the reader's hangups than it does about Rowling's.  

I like how everyday differences are generally dealt with matter of 
factly.
