I think we see a lot of clues that Petunia once knew a bit more
about the WW than she has let on. But, I was just rereading POA
(as part of my little post-OOP, compulsive, 'can't let go and get
back to my life' problem...) and when the news about Sirius Black,
escaped murdered, comes on the television news, she has no special
reaction to it at all. She goes along with Uncle V's ranting and
she's peering out the windows at the neighbors as usual, but she
doesn't give a little shriek or any sign of special recognition when
she firsts sees the story.

You would think that if she had known James and Lily at that time,
she would have had to have known Sirius too.
