I agree with you Rebecca.

I don't agree with the idea of them as a couple as adults, but it
doesn't bother me. I absolutely hate the idea of them as a couple
in school though.

I also have a couple of (totally illogical) reasons.

The first is the shrieking shack incident. It's bad enough that
Sirius betrayed (and it was a betrayal even if Sirius didn't think
of it that way) a dear friend that way. To think that he did that to
someone he was in love with is just to distasteful for me.

(I won't go into nearly killing another student because that's not
the issue here. I just want to mention it so people don't think I
dismiss it or condone it.)

Another reason is the pure tragedy of it. It's tragic enough that
they were best friends and Sirius believed Remus might betray James.
(I know Remus also believed that Sirius had betrayed James, but he
had lots of real evidence.) The idea that someone who is both his
best friend and lover could belive that of him is just too much for
me.

The big one though is how Lupin acts in school. He's afraid to
speak up against James and Sirius when they do horrible things
because he's afraid they'll reject him. It's kind of the same thing
as the last two I mentioned. It's horrible to fear rejection from a
friend, even worse to fear it from a love. This one thoug, more
than the others, is the one that makes me hate the idea.

I admit that these is a purely emotionally reasons. They're the
reasons I don't like it. However, I also just don't see it. It
never occured to me until other people said it and then I still
didn't see it.
