Why do we get so het up about Harry Potter?

In all fandoms I've belonged to, people have gotten heated up over 
issues regarding characters, plot lines, ships, you name it... I 
think it's just human nature to discuss and argue and get a little 
hot sometimes. It's not that HP is more controversial than other 
stuff, there's just a lot going on. And besides, I think our heated 
debates just goes to show how imaginative and vivid people we 
are... ;-)

Everybody gets worked up protecting things they care about.
