This isn't too inspiring, but if her father "Ted" is Theodore, maybe 
she's named after him in part.   Theodore (and Dorothy) mean Gift of 
the Gods.   Theo like Theology.   If you could call Andromeda a 
nymph, then her name is a combination of her parents.
