Hear, hear.
I had started down this thought track myself, but haven't had time to
reason it out as you have, nor would I have done it so well.
Part of my reasoning was that I also recalled that very odd statement from
Dobby in CoS, when he was explaining things to Harry at the end; something
about how he had previously told Harry that the problems at Hogwarts were
nothing to do with HWMNBN, but that that was a clue, because before he
became the Dark Lord, he could freely be named. My copy is out on loan, and
it wasn't in the movie, so I can't quote exactly, but when I read it I
thought that it was a very strange thing to say. In the light of the OoP
prophecy, I thought that this was an early seed of the idea that the Dark
Lord and Tom Riddle are indeed two separate entities.
Cheers,
Nicholas
