Except that Remus persisted in using his first name, even after 
Severus rebuffed him by replying with Remus' surname only. I did 
think that Remus was just being very stubborn in attempt to bury the 
hatchet until OotP came out.

In light of *that*, I think Remus' behavior in PoA comes across more 
as mind-game. Refering to Severus by his given name when he's not 
reciprocating doesn't indicate intimacy, it's putting Severus in the 
one-down position. 

As to Remus using 'Snivellus', we no information on whether he ever 
used that nickname, or whether it was strictly as James&Sirius thing. 
Remus did, however, fail in his responsibility to keep order as 
prefect (when they were children) and to reign Sirius in (as adults 
in the Order).
