Faith's Girl:
>On the back of my copy of OOP is a picture of the woman herself
>(British adult ed) against a bookshelf. A scout at the bookshelf
>-
>assuming it's hers, which I admit, it may not be- reveals that
>she
>is not as squicked by homosexuality as you seem to be - or as
>another poster, Dream, worried that she might be. She has a copy of
>a book called The Well of Loneliness, which is a lesbian love story,
>and I'm told - though I can't spot it myself -
>there's a book about
>historical lesbians the Ladies of Llangollen. If she doesn't

It's definitely there. Top shelf, fourth one in from the left.

For completeness, I've tried to see how many of the titles I can make out -
not got them all by any means but here's what I've noted:

Top row, left to right

1. ?
2. ?
3. James Joyce, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
4. Elizabeth ?, The Ladies of Llangollen
5. ?, (all I can make out of the title are the words "Looking Glass" and
"Essays"
6. Trollope, ?
7. ?, Fort...
8. ?, Nine...
9. Jane Austen, Letters
10. The Metropolitan Museum...
11. Vladimir Nabokov, ?
12. ?
13. Radcliffe Hall, The Well of Loneliness
14. ?, By the Sea
15. ?
16. Sue Townsend, Adrian Mole: The Cappucino Years
17. ?
There may be another one at the end, I can't quite make it out

Middle Row, left to right

1. ?
2. ?
3. Robin Cook?, ?
4. ?
5. ?
6. ?
7. ?
8. ?, The...
9. Agatha Christie, Appointment With Death
10, Agatha Christie, ?
11. Agatha Christie, Dead Man's Folly
12. Sigmund Freud, ... and Their Relation to the Unconscious

Bottom Row, left to right

1. Ngaio Marsh, ?
2. Phillip Pullman, ?
3. ?, The Marvellous Land of...
4. Human...
5. Atlas of A...
6. ?

Can anyone do any better?

No sign of Kafka or the Alchemical Wedding but that doesn't mean they're not
there or somewhere else out of shot.

Also, what I wonder might have been the influences from those books on the
Potterverse (if any). I would certainly agree with Faith's Girl that we may
well be looking at Gay!Hermione rather than Gay!Harry...

Cheers
