Someone emailed me for the details on my copy of OotP. My book was
printed in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Actually, I have two copies, and I see
the picture in both.
My first thought, back on June 21, on these words is that they were "bleed"
through, but they don't match anything on the surrounding pages, nor do they
seem to match anything else I've read in this book.
Also, the words that I think I'm seeing, "that, wizard, and called" are not
necessarily in the same sentence. It's as though there is text embedded into
the picture, and the only place I can read the words is where the two trees are
joined--I see the word "that" immediately above this branch and the words
"wizard called" directly under it. These words are the ones I can read out
dozens more that I can't make out.
Finally, I called it a possible "secret prophecy" because I was reminded of
how the eavesdropper in the the Hog's Head only heard part of Sibyll
Trelawney's prophecy, and how Harry hears bits and pieces of the smashed
prophecies in the Ministry of Magic. Likewise, I feel that anything I am reading
in this picture is also incomplete and fragmented, which is why it's making me
feel loony!
I've had my husband look at this, and he agrees that he sees it, too. Sorry if
my post has people feeling stupid staring at the illustration! Hopefully I will
not receive emails telling me to go for a series of shock spells at St. Mungo's.
Cheers,
Catherine
