going by their ages, assuming Lucius went to Hogwarts, Lucius was in 
his seventh year when Snape was in his fourth. It hardly seems 
likely that they would have been particularly close at school. After 
all, Lucius is not included in the list of Slytherins Sirius names 
as having been Snape's gang.

Which of course begs the question of where Snape's gang was when 
James and co. were hanging Snape upside down and laughing at his 
underwear.... but that's a whole different story.
