Well maybe James and Lily were thrice defying him and that slowed
him down. On top of the Longbottoms also thrice defying him, which
must have taken a few more days out of his schedule.
Or did all that defying have to happen before the babies were born?
Maybe all wizard babies are invulnerable for their first year.
That would be nice.
