A few corrections to make to my previous post.

1) I meant to say that Albus means white/etc. not Albus Dumbledore.
Personally, I just think she chose the Dumbledore part because she
liked the sound of it. However, I think the idea of Albus being a
white bumblebee is fun.

2)True. Everyone thinks Hedwig is a female. That is a good point.
However, I think it is not far fetched to believe a person who could
change their body into an owl could also change their gender. Also,
very little evidence (i.e.,Hedwig doesn't have a mate or it is never
essential to the plot)has been offered in the books to say Hedwig is
a female other than that is what Harry/etc. apparently think. But
still, a good point nonetheless.

3) My initial motivation for this post is the realization that
Dumbledore must be an animagi. He must be. He is just to powerful
(and too involved in transfig.)not to be. So if he is not Hedwig, he
is something. Accordingly, it would stand to reason that Rowling has
threaded him in animal form into the story. I would be interested in
other theories about what Dumbledore might be as an animagus
(especially theories which use animals appearing in the books).

Thanks,
Jake
