I have to agree here.  It's not good for the plot to be killing off any of 
the main kids.  I also think that since some of them have been in Azkaban, 
they're still a bit rusty.  Or perhaps they were just having fun cursing the kids 
like that?  I'm sure they never thought that they would be beaten by some 
teenagers, so they figured that they could just have some fun a la the QWC.
