I agree that Rowling will want to keep Lupin, but as for Peter
Pettigrew, he still has a debt to pay to Harry for saving his life
in PoA.
Pg 311: Dumbledore says to Harry: "Pettigrew owes his life to you.
You have sent Voldermort a deputy who is in your in debt."
He also says that by saving another wizards life creates a bond
between them, and saying that this is magic at its deepest....."the
time may come when you will be very glad you saved Pettigrew's
life." .....I think this may come in the last book though.
Then hopefully after he has repayed Harry, he can die! :)
