Thingy). Does it make sense that these wizards, clearly Oh-So-Evil
enough to pull off Unforgivables, choose not to use them? Not one
fatality for the Students. Little Harry manages to do a good enough
Protego charm to protect himself from various curses, so why not the
DEs? Sure, they were trying to get the prophecy back to Lord Thingy,
but there were plenty of times they could've killed/seriously injured
one of the kids. Why not do a quick switching spell on one of the
brains and one of Ron's vital organs? It doesn't need to be accurate--
even done wrong, it'd still probably kill him... were they just
forgetting that they're the bad guys who are supposed to be more
skilled and underhanded than a couple teenagers?

What I found hard to believe was the scene before the fight even
started - when the kids and the DEs are standing there and talking.
Harry keeps trying to keep the dialogue going, because he's
desperately trying to come up with a plan to get every one out of
there and protect the prophecy. The whole bit about muttering under
his breath to Hermione or whoever was near him seemed a bit of a
stretch. Sure, he was engaging Lucius at the time, but there were a
bunch of other DEs standing there who could have actually been paying
attention to any other sounds that escaped Harry's mouth and who
might have thought about keeping an eye on the other students, just
to make sure they didn't make any sudden moves. Apparently, this
escaped their notice.
