I read the situation in the same light. Molly is, I feel, feeling
threatened by Sirius. She and Arthur have, to all intents and
purposes, have adopted Harry as a part of their family. She cares
deeply for Harry as was shown in the previous books and wanted to
take him for the whole holidays following the events in the graveyard
at the end of GoF. She treats him in much the same way that she
treats her sons. She even takes responsibility for his "back to
school" shopping, including his clothes (she even bought his dress
robes!) Now, here she has Sirius, who has more of a claim over Harry
than she does, coming along to take over her role of caregiver in his
life. Actually, I saw the whole debate over what Harry should be told
after his arrival at OoP Headquarters in much the same light as a
debate between two (not very amicably-sp?) separated parents over how
their child should be raised. She wants to protect Harry (and her
other children - I'm including Hermione in this too) by hiding the
Order's business from them, a typically over-protective parent thing
to do, while Sirius, who in my opinion, is rightly accused of seeing
Harry as James and therefore a contemporary, wants give Harry
information, which in his own belief will keep Harry safe. Out of the
two I'd have to agree with Sirius. He at least recognises Harry's
need to know everything.
snos - who knows this post got a little rambly towards the end, but
apologises with the excuse that her brain has turned to mush after
being on holidays for the last two weeks and is trying to get it
turned back to normal before going back to work tomorrow.
