I hope that's not true.

I reckon Hagrid would be a fantastic character to die.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hagrid is a wonderful character and a 
dear friend of Harry's, but this is the exact reason I think his 
death would be a good thing.

Just imagine it! Hagrid dies. What would everyone's reactions be? 
Wouldn't you just ache with sympathy for them? Harry would be 
absolutely stricken, we would miss Hagrid ourselves, Ron would 
comfort a tearful Hermione...

Personally, I think the death of Hagrid instead of Sirius would have 
made OotP a whole lot better. I don't miss Sirius and I didn't gasp 
with anguish when he died.

Hagrid's death would mean so much more to everyone, I think people 
would've reacted a lot more to it.

PS - Dobby dying would be a good one too, even though he's kind of 
annoying and people may not miss him or feel sorry about it. But I 
reckon if Dobby and a handful of other elves died at the hands of 
Death Eaters, instilling some kind of mad retribution from the rest, 
it could've been good too.
