Lady Macbeth:
I don't think so.  Just because they're a few years apart doesn't mean they
can't be friends.  If that were the case, most of the Quidditch teams
wouldn't get along very well, as they seem to be made up of students from
all grade levels.

At one point, Remus mentioned that Snape was jealous of James's Quidditch
skills.  Perhaps Snape and Malfoy played on the Slytherin Quidditch team
together?  Draco was apparently playing Quidditch before he started at
Hogwarts, and his father had an interest in racing brooms.
