Hans wrote originally of the Alchemical Wedding (message 56254):
>>Basically it's a story of a chap named Christian Rosencreutz who spends seven days in an old castle, and attends an alchemical process in which six kings and queens are killed and their bodies used in the
rebirth of a young king and queen of indescribable beauty.<<
Tigerpatronus in message 72045 responded:
>>Maybe this is what LV was trying to do to attain immortality (Death Eaters). I wonder how many couples he killed in his quest to become immortal, and that is/was his stated goal.
Perhaps the HP saga is not only an allusion to AW but an answer to it.<<
Hans now:
Hmm, very interesting. An inverted alchemical wedding. Granger points out in his book that the rebirthing party is actually an inverted Mass; a kind of black mass. So why shouldn't Voldemort's effort to obtain immortality be an inverted alchemical wedding? Good thinking tiger! Worth investigating.
Here's some facts to help us think. The six kings and queens in the AW represent the three aspects of the human consciousness which I've listed in message 55793. The idea of male and female represents the positive and negative aspects of each aspect. Once again for clarity:
5. The mental ego (book 5)
6. The emotional ego (book 6)
7. The consciousness ego (book 7).
In the AW the six kings and queens give up their life willingly. They all offer themselves up for voluntary decapitation. There is no question of murder here; it's a willing self-sacrifice. And the executioner (representing the will) is also beheaded straight after the execution.
Your idea that Voldemort is imitating the process of the AW to achieve immortality is quite worthwhile for consideration. However in his case there can be no voluntary death. He kills his way through in an attempt to grab immortality. I shall ponder and I hope others will too.
Thanks again.
Hans
