Vernon is a cruel man, indeed. He didn't care if Harry was alive or 
dead. His concerns, in my view, were the safety of his family, 
particulary his dear son, Dudley. After Dudley was nearly killed by 
Dementors, Vernon saw the danger of keeping Harry with them. He, 
without any hesitation, were keen to throw him out.
