Snape refereeing a game does not mean he necessarily played Quidditch

In OOtP, Sirius and Remus say that Snape was probably jealous of
James because he was better at Quidditch and everything else than
Snape. Which would suggest, that Snape DID play Quidditch at one
point, but just wasn't good at it. He also does enjoy watching
Slytherin play, and is very adamant about trying to get Harry to lose
Quidditch priviledges. (Chamber of Secrets? Can't remember which book
it was from) I think he must enjoy the game to some level, and he
certainly enjoys his house winning the Cup so often, from what we
hear from McGonnagal in SS/PS. I certainly believed he played
Quidditch, I think that because James was such a talented player, the
other Houses didn't win as often or get as much of the Glory, which
would make Snapes behavior in regards to the Slytherin team
understandable.
