The thing that I've been trying to figure out is why does Sirius say
"if ever a family was a bunch of blood traitors it's the Weasleys."
Does it have something to do with Arthur's job - perhaps the fact
that he established the rules for living peacefully with muggles?
Is there something I've missed in the books that explains this?
As far as I remember their family is still pure blooded. It seems
most of the pure blooded families are rich as well. I feel there is
some deeper history here.
As for Ron, I don't think there is any reason for him to betray his
family or the Order. He always comes to his senses about his
jealousy when he realises what the stakes are. An example is
the Triwizard tournament in GoF. I don't recall Ron ever being
disrespectful of his Father's job. I think most children are acutely
aware of their financial situation especially when they are made
aware of it by others (ie. Malfoy!). It is not sufficient reasoning to
betray all who love and care for him. I think Ron knows better.
I still believe Percy has already shown his colours. He is easily
mislead and has a great need to be accepted and feel superior.
He is too willing to reject his family and friends for his ambition.
Even if you look back at CoS you find him reading a book called
"Prefects who Gained Power - a study of Hogwarts prefects and
their later careers". (pg 48 UK edition). 'Power' being the key
word. He seems to be walking in the footsteps of LV himself!
Who knows - JK will have some twist to all this I'm sure.
