i find this star-flower observation quite charming!
So, Nymph. isn't a constellation. Is she more grounded than her aunts?
the definition of "Nymphadora - commonly known today as the water
lily... sign
of daytime and goodness rising from the bad things" reminded me of
the old
Buddhist saying that the Buddhist looks at the flower and his
thoughts go to
when it will become mulch. s/he looks at the mulch and thinks of the
flower
that will arise.
It doesn't really work as a neat and clean parallel but, hey,
it's an association.
I say have some wiggle room with your metaphorical rumination.

As for whether the flower names point to a relationship between Lily
and
Petunia and the Blacks or pure coincidence I place myself smack in
between
the two camps.

While I don't think there's a blood relationship, these two
families are going to
bear a lot of scrutiny. As with their dress, the muggles are a bit
plainer, the
wizards more exotic and individualistic. Perhaps JKP consciously
conceived
of this comparative quality being reflected in the names. I mean,
could
Petunia even deal if her name were Nymphadora? Get outta here!.

By the way, even though Dumbledore mean bumblebee, JKR got the name
from
> a particular type of water lily.

Another cool observation. So we are not tempted to explore the
possibility of a
connection betweeen the water lillies? Maybe Tonks is Dumble's
lovechild!
