  I don't beleive Snape really believed muggle-borns were inferior.  I 
  also don't think he thought they were equal, either.  I don't think 
  he thought much about it until some one expected him to kill over 
  it.  Then he made his decision.  He turned spy.

  I do believe Snape joined Voldemort because he wanted power.  Mostly 
  because we saw how much he hated being powerless. <<<

  I agree, and I would like to point out that there are a lot of things we passionately 'believe' in during our adolescent years that we come to realise are wrong or unimportant as we get a little more maturity and fewer hormones.  And you only have to stand outside a school to hear the most foul mouthed language, most of which the kids don't even know or care about the meaning of, only that they are using 'shocking' words.
