If you look at the wording, specifically the use of the
word "fancied", I think JKR meant to imply a feeling of guilt by
Harry. At this point Harry hasn't come to understand what has
happened and is feeling that he may be responsible for what happened.
Thus Harry feels guilty and most people who feel guilty especially
extreme guilt, as I imagine he would considering his relationship
with the Weasleys, you think everyone knows what you've done. It's
his imagination influenced by guilt.
