But DID he love Sirius? Or did he just love the IDEA
of having someone who
cared about HIM? The idea of having a real parental
figure? (Not that I really
think Sirius was a GOOD one, mind.) His projection of
James onto Sirius?
And did Sirius love Harry, or only the projection of
James that he put on Harry?
Think about it - before Harry comes to Grimmauld
Place, they can't have spent
more than perhaps a dozen hours in each other's
company, plus the exchange of
a few letters - is that REALLY enough time to develop
that sort of feeling?
I don't think so...

My reply: Here is my whole take on it. You love
people not for you who they are or what they do to
you...you love them because you do. It's called
unconditional love.
The one thing to me that proves that Sirius loved
Harry is actually something that is said after Sirius
died...He never kept me waiting..
Sirius came to rescue him, he came to watch his godson
play quidditch..maybe he did see James in harry (and
mind you I still maintain that there IS a great deal
of James in that boy) but that does not mean he does
not love him. He had 13 years to think about
Harry...and he knew he would love him..I mean after
all he loved his parents. They loved eachother...it
was more than just obligation, Sirius went far over
mere obligation to protect Harry. And yes they did
argue about the way James acted...but honestly, what
parent and child do you know that don't argue?
