Word.
I never saw Neville as a coward. In book 1 he stood up to the trio,
he fought Crabbe and Goyle single handed, he left the save Gryffindor
tower to warn Harry and Hermione from Malfoy's plan. In book 3 he
admitted that it was him, who lost the list with the passwords. He
also never mentioned what happened to his parents, although probably
everyone wold have pitied him. Yes, he is afraid of many things, but
nonetheless he faces them. This is real bravery. Not being afraid of
anything isn't brave, it is stupid. I therefore didn't saw much of a
character change in OOTP. A development, maybe. But I think the
bravery, which was always there, just became clearer.
