That sounds exactly right to me.  Voldemort is very frightened of 
death, we know. They are fused together in some way, and Harry has 
just spoken to Dumbldore in his mind, saying "Let him kill us... end 
it, Dumbledore..." (OOP  p.816). V is afraid D will kill the two of 
them; it's something he'd do if one of his followers were merged with 
someone he was trying to kill.  He doesn't dare wait and see if D 
will act.
